Mary Ponomareva is Moscow- born, Amsterdam & the Hague-based visual artist and designer.
With a background in academic art, she is engaged in exploring the boundaries of visual communication and new media.
Her working method lays in the merge of visual art, design, research, and theory. The exploration within those fields resulting in a creation of hybrid forms of media that combine her abilities in visual art, design, programming and motion image.
International cultural and linguistic backgrounds broadened her vision on the world and enabled to communicate sharply within different cultural contexts. Her motto is to explore, expand and stay curious in an ever-changing visual environment and its technological world.
Interested in an analysis of the cultural, social and political impacts of aesthetics, symbols, representations within today’s media environment on global perception of reality, beliefs, visions, and perspectives. With the proliferation of images, generated by the constantly technologically advancing tools, can we trust the representations that we are surrounded with?
